The France Télévisions group announced Friday that it was the victim of a cyber attack that targeted one of its broadcasting sites. According to the group, the attack did not impact its antennae.
“One of its dissemination sites has been infected with a computer virus.” reads a statement issued by the Franch group.
The group confirmed that the broadcasting of France 3 will be transferred to the headquarters of France Televisions, the company also activated the backup site in response to the incident.
“For the time being, the teams are fully mobilized and broadcasting on air is not impacted in the short term,” added the public group. “However, the broadcasting of France 3 will be transferred to the headquarters of France Televisions and the backup site has already been activated,” continues the statement.
This isn’t the first attack that targeted French media, in 2019 ransomware operators hit the M6 group, one of France’s biggest TV channels.
In April 2015, the TV5Monde was hit by a severe cyber attack that compromised broadcasting of transmissions across its medium. The attackers also hijacked the Channel TV5Monde website and social media accounts of the French broadcaster.
