Payment solutions giant Edenred announces malware infection

The Payment solutions giant Edenred disclosed a malware incident that affected some of its computing systems, it immediately started an investigation.

The Payment solutions giant Edenred announced that some of its computing systems have been infected with malware, the company is currently investigating the incident.

Edenred is a French company specialized in prepaid corporate services. The Group is independent since June 2010 following the split with Accor. Formerly known as Accor Services, the firm is the inventor of Ticket Restaurant, created in 1962, and a leading distributor of meal vouchers. Today, the company offers solutions for employee benefits, fleet and mobility and corporate payment across 46 countries. 50 million employees use its services worldwide.

In 2018, the Group managed 2.5 billion specific purpose payment transactions in 2018, primarily carried out via mobile applications, online platforms and cards, and representing nearly €30 billion in business volume.

Edenred S.A. announces that on November 21, 2019 it was subject to a malware infection on its information technology systems. Edenred is still investigating the extent of the attack.” reads a statement published today.

“Upon detection of the attack, Edenred immediately implemented countermeasures to prevent further infection in accordance with Edenred’s established cybersecurity policies,”

The company added that it is committed to utilizing all available means to protect its operations and the data of its customers.

The company is reporting the incident to government regulators and authorities.
