Marina Bay Sands Luxury Hotel in Singapore Suffers a Data Breach

The iconic integrated resort Marina Bay Sands in Singapore has disclosed a data breach that impacted 665,000 customers.

The Marina Bay Sands (MBS) luxury resort in Singapore has suffered a data breach that impacted 665,000 customers.

Marina Bay Sands discovered the security breach on 20 October 2023, an unauthorized third party gained access to some of our customers’ loyalty programme membership data on 19 and 20 October 2023.

The security teams at the company immediately launched an investigation into the incident.

“Upon discovery of the incident, our teams immediately took action to resolve it. Investigations have since determined that an unknown third party accessed customer data of about 665,000 non-casino rewards programme members.” reads the notice of security incident. “Based on our investigation, we do not have evidence to date that the unauthorized third party has misused the data to cause harm to customers.”

The company does not believe that membership data from its casino rewards programme, Sands Rewards Club, was affected.

Exposed data includes:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Mobile phone number
  • Phone number
  • Country of residence
  • Membership number and tier

The company is going to notify impacted customers and already reported the incident to the relevant authorities in Singapore and other countries where applicable.

Marina Bay Sands did not share technical details about the incident.
