Offensive Security announced the release of Kali Linux 2019.1

It’s official, Offensive Security announced the release of Kali Linux 2019.1, the latest version of the popular penetration testing and forensics Linux distro.

On Monday, Offensive Security announced the availability of Kali Linux 2019.1, the latest version of the popular penetration testing and forensics Linux distribution.

“Welcome to our first release of 2019, Kali Linux 2019.1, which is available for immediate download. This release brings our kernel up to version 4.19.13, fixes numerous bugs, and includes many updated packages.” reads the official announcement.

The new version of the Linux OS addresses more than a dozen vulnerabilities and runs a kernel version 4.19.13.
Kali Linux 2019.1 also updates several packages, it brings Metasploit version 5.0 that was released in January and that includes new database and automation APIs, evasion modules and libraries, language support, improved performance.
Kali Linux 2019.1 includes updated versions of both the DBeaver (3.0.0) and theHarvester packages (2.7.2).

The new Kali Linux also announced several ARM updates:

“The 2019.1 Kali release for ARM includes the return of Banana Pi and Banana Pro, both of which are on the 4.19 kernel. Veyron has been moved to a 4.19 kernel and the Raspberry Pi images have been simplified so it is easier to figure out which one to use.” continues the announcement.

“There are no longer separate Raspberry Pi images for users with TFT LCDs because we now include re4son’s kalipitft-config script on all of them, so if you want to set up a board with a TFT, run ‘kalipitft-config’ and follow the prompts.”

Users can update their installs or they can download a new Kali Linux image via HTTP or Torrent.
